New Beckenham

New Beckenham

Neil Walkling paid a visit to New Beckenham station on 25th January 2104 while out photographing the Buffer Puffer 11.0 railtour featuring two Class 37 diesels.

While he was there he recorded the station for inclusion on the Southern E-Group website. This photo shows the shortened down platform, sadly now totally devoid of all facilities.............

The canopies are the only remaining part of the original station from its 1904 rebuild, the station itself was originally built in 1866, replacing the original four platform 1864 building situated just north of bridge road with platforms for the spur line to Beckenham Junction.
