The main station buildings set on the road overbridge and photographed in September 1985. Note the white painted brickwork on the left which was an aid to signal sighting. Holmwood is located between Dorking and Ockley. It is a very basic station, which at the time of the earlier photos on this page was still semephore signalled, although they were normally left cleared and the cabin switched out. Due to the resignalling scheme in the area, the cabin was abolished in August 2004, with new colour light signals having been installed. A not-yet-commissioned new colour light signal can be seen on the left and there are now new lamps which are painted in Southern colours. photograph by Nick Beck The waiting shelter on the down platform is a modern one, of the same design recently installed at Billingshurst. photograph by Nick Beck The traditional LBSCR wooden waiting shelter on the up platform on 25th July 2009. The windows are now out, presumably as an anti-vandal precaution for this modern age we live in! photograph by Gregory Beecroft The 2009 view through the station showing the modern waiting shelter on the down platform and the now-disused signalbox on the up platform. photograph by Gregory Beecroft The poor old Signalbox, no longer required for its original purpose and closed on 27th August 2005, sitting forlornly on the up platform, its work now done from a panel installed in Three Bridges Power Signalbox. photograph by Gregory Beecroft |
